Toddler Assistant: Three infant and toddler teachers work as a team to care for nine children from infant – 23 months old. Our toddler assistant will work with a head teacher to care for six toddlers ages 15-24 months old. No training or experience is necessary; on the job training will begin soon after you start.
2 year old Assistant: This teacher will work with another experienced teacher to nurture up to 12 two-year-olds. This is exciting work and also nonstop because during this year children learn much about how relationships and the world works. This is a great opportunity to point children toward quality social behavior for the rest of their lives.
4 year old Assistant: “The four-year-old is both wonderful and wild, loving adventure, excursions, and excitement. They express extreme emotions, great drive and a fluid imagination”* Their imaginations are blossoming, and every day is a chance to nurture their curiosity and joy! You will work with a head teacher and together you teach up to ten students.
Kindergarten Intern: Work with our veteran kindergarten teacher in her last year at HCS to learn the art of engaging kindergarten teaching. You will plan to work for us for at least two years. More info here
7/8 grade homeroom teacher: This teacher typically has a small class of both church and neighborhood students. You would be part of a school that includes many neighborhood children and so the dynamics are different from many Anabaptist schools. Our preferred applicant will be excited by the challenge of applying our culture to the urban setting. More information here.

Teaching Assistant: This teacher would work with other lead teachers where needed. We have positions available to care for children from infant to 5 years of age. High school diploma required. We are looking for applicants who are 20 and older.
Head Teacher: A head teacher is responsible to lead a class in cooperation with any assistants in the room. There are three age groups available for this position. We provide a basic plan for running your class and allow you freedom to grow in your own way. Two years of experience and high school diploma required. We are looking for applicants who are 20 and older.
Maintenance Couple: We are looking for someone to help keep our facilities maintained as well as work on capital projects. This individual should have a knowledge of construction and facilities maintenance. Our best candidates would be an older couple, though we don’t despise youth. We would anticipate both of the couple working at least part-time at our school. High school diploma required.
Receptionist/Cook: This staff member covers a lot of jobs. They act as a receptionist and greeter to families as they drop off and pick up children. They perform secretarial work. They heat up, cut up, and portion up two meals a day for our children. They also serve two snacks a day to classrooms. Typically they are also involved in cleaning and helping classes move from location to location. High School diploma required. We are looking for applicants who are 20 and older.

Hampden Christian School Needs
New Roof and Windows for Staff House
This is a 4 bedroom staff house. Using this house is quite affordable as we own it outright. We do want to keep improving our ongoing costs so we have a few projects to do.
The rubber roofing is getting old and should be replaced. $8,000
We would also like to boost efficiency and usefulness by replacing 12 windows. $5,000
Replace Deck on Staff house
There is a multi-level deck on one of ours staff houses that is becoming structurally unsafe. We would like to replace it with something more functional and aesthetically pleasing. $12,000 (This price assumes volunteer labor.)
Gym Improvements
This gym is spacious and could use more play equipment. We want to start with a climber. $5,000
Install LVP in two classrooms
The rooms for our youngest children are VCT tiles on concrete which makes for a cold hard floor. With these children’s inherent clumsiness they tend to bump the floor quite a bit as well as spending most of their time sitting on the floor. We want to provide a bit more warmth and protection. $4,000 (This price assumes volunteer labor.)
Mini-Splits for Office
Our office currently is heating by an insufficient supply of baseboard and a wall heater. Our ancient mini-split that we can’t get parts for died in 2022, so we have no cooling either. We would like to install an efficient multi-head unit to serve the office and adjacent rooms. $15,000
